Yeah me!! Creating an action was on my list of things to learn how to do in CS3 and yesterday was a good day to sit down with my Photoshop for Dummies book and figure out how to record a simple action. DH golfed and worked all day and the Little Girl enjoyed a day off school for Columbus Day and played with her neighbor friends so I had the laptop to myself. This simple action took all day and evening because I wanted to make one that was compatible with PSE6 so I had to tweak it and test it in PSE in addition to CS3. And there is no easy way to test an action in PSE, you have to copy it to the correct folder, rebuild the database.... but it finally works in PSE6! It was definitely a labor of love. I sure hope it works in other versions but no promises. I would love to hear your feedback if you all are willing to try it in earlier versions of PSE! This action will create a metal tag with a "paper" insert and ring. There is also an action that does not include the ring. The tag is HUGE too, I think probably too big. It is about 6.5" in diameter without the ring. Funny when I was making it I didn't realize it was that big and it wasn't until I started to do the previews that I realized how huge they are.
And of course I didn't want to neglect my non-PS/PSE users so I also packaged up a layered template of the tag and some sample tags that you are free to use however you like! Here's something I whipped up in just a couple minutes late last night:
This is included in the sample package if you have any use for it...You can use your favorite background paper, style or pattern on the tag, or insert a photo! Here's the previews and links to the freebies...
Updated 10/19/08: I grouped the colored tag actions and paper tag actions into one set for PSE7 Guided Edit Users and for PS Users. GROUPED Set for PSE7 Guided Edit Users HERE
Edit: 5am 10/15/08 - I am told it works in PSE5 and PSE4, you will need to create .psd files from the .png thumbs included in the download for them to show up in your "photo effects" palette.
I am not uploading to filesavr and in fact I am taking down all the links to filesavr as I get time because everything that I have downloaded recently will not open, it says the .zip is corrupt or invalid. I have no idea why this happens but if I sign in and download under my account they are fine. The downloads from the links produce these corrupt .zips. Anyone else having this problem?? I should have known that a 250g free account was too good to be true! I can't recommend Filesavr until they get everything worked out, and several emails have met with negative results. I don't look for them to last the 30 years that this account is supposed to be active.
Now, I am going to tend to some much needed housework and laundry, dinner, and some other digi projects that I need to finish. I may not post another freebie for a couple days but hopefully today's freebie will keep you busy for awhile!
