CU Farm animal Doodles

This is all I could get done before the Cub/Card game tonight and I'm again going on zero sleep since 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon.  I have been slacking but have found my motivation seriously lacking lately.  I have received so many emails the past few weeks from people asking to clarify my TOU and asking to use my freebies to create things that I had never even considered that I would need to include in my TOU and to create CU items with my CU freebies.  It's obvious that I need to revamp my TOU and probably just post it on the blog so that those questions can be answered before you even download.  I am also considering just making everything PU/SFO/SFH only in the future and offer an occasional CU freebie.  This would not apply to past freebies, just future ones.  Maybe I'm getting burned out.  Maybe I'm just exhausted and rambling.  It's been a rough few weeks and I'm sure I'll snap out of it, bear with me!

I appreciate how generous you are with your designs. I'm sorry this is causing your stress. Hope you can get some rest; things may appear more upbeat then.

Deb, maybe you need to take some time to re-charge your batteries! We all need to take a breather now and then. These little cuties are so adorable - thank you so much!

Thank you for all the great freebies you provide!

Thanks so much for the doodles - they're SO cute! I appreciate your designs and how generous you are to allow them to be used CU for making kits or elements. I would feel that it is asking a bit much to ask to use them to make other CU items. Hope you can get some rest this weekend!

You would have to be one of the most sharing people in digiland! I agree with clc — it's stretching the boundaries of that generosity when people want to take your free CU items to create their own CU items. Time to think about yourself methinks!!!

Thanks for the great freebies! I think if you are going to allow CU 4 CU then you need to be selling you designs - not just giving them away!! You are already so generous with your stuff. That's my .02, though. Your hard work is worth something!!

These are just what I've been looking for! My son had a farm themed 3rd birthday party and I've been wanting to make a kit with animals just like this :).

Sorry about all the stress. Thank you so much for all the time and energy you put into everything you offer. It's hard work! Be sure to take care of yourself first.

Thanks Deb, these are great! I think you are probably burned out. You have been cranking out freebies day after day for ages now. Your mind must never stop! I get tired just thinking about it! I agree with the CU for CU request. Ummm, just say NO! Anywho, take some time off or just allow yourself to post something once a week, month or whatever suits you. Your fans will follow you no matter what!

These doodles are so adorable - I wish I had half of your talent, I would be a very happy person indeed then. Thank You so very much for making them available to us.

I can't believe you still aren't getting any sleep and I know how going prolonged periods without any good sleep makes you feel. Then to be fielding questions left, right and centre about your creations on top of such a stressful job - you must be struggling to know up from down at the moment.

I think a lot of the problem isthe new vogue of CU4CU items in the scrapping stores right now. I hate to say it but if you are creating items for sale as Designer Resources then surely they should be free of other creator's work. I do find the trend of CU4CU a touch disturbing if I'm being honest, for me CU items are for other less talented creators (people like me for instance) to adapt for use in for sale or free kits (where the tOU allow free) and not for making a product for other people to make kits from.

I will fully understand and support you if you decide to stop making CU items, I will miss having the resources at my finger tips but what is more important is that YOU are happy with the way YOUR creations are used. Won't stop me downloading them for my personal use though, I'm too much of an addict of your work for that ;)

I agree with Pat Hall, I think you need to take some time off from designing and recharge your batteries some. Go for cycle rides, watch movies or even scrap your own photos and get a vest for creating back naturally.

Hi there, I haven't visited for a while, so I 've just had a hunt around and am downloading a bunch of stuff!
Thanks so much for the variety and sheer volume of freebies you offer! It's very generous of you.

I just love your designs

Sandy said...

I mean this, but not in a mean way, I often wondered why you spend your free time making others jobs easier. You are SUPER GENEROUS with what you offer. I can only somewhat relate because my hubby is a federal officer. I'm on the other end of the spectrum though. I'm the "other half" of the whole "cop" thing. Your job is stressful enough without worrying about which terms to apply to your creations. It's hard to put a price tag on your hobby, but when your hobby demands too much of you then you need to reevaluate your situation. I say OPEN A SHOP! I'll be first in line!!

Addicted2Scrappin' said...

Thanks for the adorable animals!! I would like to say that everyone needs time off even if you enjoy what you are doing. Relax, take some time off and pamper yourself. I've certainly enjoyed your generosity and all the wonderful freebies but not at the expense of your health and well-being. Take care.

Thank you so much for these!
Hope you get some rest. You are one of the most generous people in Scrapland, especially when it comes to CU items. I hope you find a solution you're comfortable with!

Just A Girl said...

I seriously agree with what others have been saying here - you are so talented that if you opened up a shop and sold your creations, you would do VERY well for yourself. Understandably you've been wanting to make things easier for people in offering your creations for free - and your generosity is more than appreciated by most of us .....but as a designer , I think this CU4CU is a little totally pushing it. Get some rest before you make a decision hon and thank you a million times over for what you have already shared with us.

How cute!! Thank you so much for sharing:)

Sara said...

Like others have said, perhaps you just need to recharge. I mean, whether you make PU or CU items, you need to WANT to make them, lol. :) So just relax and enjoy stuff NSBR, perhaps. :)
Your work is always wonderful, and I--along with everyone else, it seems, lol--appreciate your generosity.
But as far as your TOU goes, definitely write one up and post it on your blog. That way you won't be fielding a ton of email. Perhaps that'll free up some time for you.

Sandy said...

Adorable, Deb! Thanks so much!! Don't do the CU4CU thing. That's just someone trying to take advantage of your wonderful generosity and creativity!!

lvdesigns said...

You are stunningly talented (not to mention generous)!!! I go through long periods of not being able to sleep and I know how it messes with your whole life and your outlook on everything in it.

I've always had a hard time getting and staying asleep. I just can't get my mind to shut up ;)

I wish I could give you some tips but I'll find something that works for a couple months and then all of a sudden it stops working... Then the search starts all over again for something, anything that gets me to sleep. So I guess my tip is just to keep trying different things till you find something that works.

No matter what you decide regarding your tou and designs, you and your designs are amazing!

Take care!

melissa said...

oh, I do love your CU stuff but if it is stressing you so, you should AT LEAST take some time off.

Amy said...

Thanks for sharing all your wonderful creations with everyone. However, don't forget that this is not your responsibility to make things for people! If you're feeling stressed out that means its not fun anymore. Take care of you and don't let it ruin your health.

Amberpony Creates said...

Rest Assured that there are many more people that enjoy your Generosity then those Greedy people that you are hearing from!
It would be a shame if your Lost Your Joy for what you Enjoy Doing.

Yes your work is defenity good enough quaility to sell CU Kits! But you should be the one making money off them not others. I think it is a good Idea when designers fulfill their need to offer CU Freebies for 1 week or a Couple Days before putting them in their store. I have felt for a long time you should have a store of your own I am sure you would be Welcome in many stores.
Chin Up and Do What Feels Good don't let the Greedy take the Wind Out Of Your Sails. Copyright your stuff before giving it away. Remember there are always those that will steel your stuff and claim it as their own no matter what you do
Thanks Again!!!

Hi Deb! I hope you're feeling better -- and better appreciated. I'm not big on the mushy stuff, so my advice is to kick back and drink a few chillies. LOL!

Take some time to redo you TOU to whatever you want it to say, and have some fun!

We thank you for everything you do.

Deb, hope you feel more like your old self real soon! Perhaps you do need to take a break from designing. . . what am I saying!!!LOL! But, seriously do what is best for Deb and the rest of us will adjust! You have been so generous in the past, but you really need to take care of yourself!

Well, it looks like you rattled everyone's cages with this post, lmbo. As a peace officer, I'm sure you're well aware of the signs and symptoms of burnout. I won't add my two cents to the health advice, other than to agree heartily with the nice lady who told you to get some sunshine, but I am going to throw my hat into the ring on the subject of the CU freebies, and literally beg you not to stop them! In these hard times, folks need freebies more than ever, and those of us who make free to use kits are more than appreciative of your sweet freebies, we nearly depend on them.
If people would let you know what a light in the darkness you are more often, you probably wouldn't feel as burned out. Whatever you decide to do, hunni, know that you are truly loved and valued in this world.

Thanks so much for sharing! I appreciate all your hard work. I use a TON of your stuff (such as your amazing alpha for the May ADSD challenge). I think you are one of the most generous people on the web and I appreciate your generosity! I feel like if you create it, YOU get to decide how it gets used. When I make something using your stuff I make it clear that I expect people to respect your TOU. I really think that we (as freebie downloaders) should appreciate what is GIVEN to us and respect the desires of the designers. Keep your head up and know that you are appreciated!

Deb, i have not been downloading a lot lately. I have been pushing the hours at work so i understand stress. My humble opinion is cu4cu is an over the top request. You are so very talented and generous do not let anyone ruin your enjoyment no matter what. I always pop in at least to look. I really hope you get rest. I want you to know my dad is in chicago i am in Mo. we had a bet on the last cardinal cubs game (only 100,000)Joke joke. I lost the bet. But dad said he was giving the 100,000 to me for my birthday, so easy come easy go! Hope this makes you smile.

Someone thought up the pyramid scheme to make easy money and now someone has come up with CU4CU, again to make easy money! I appreciate all that you do for us and I realize the time and effort that you put into your work; don't let someone make easy money on your hard work and time! I don't usually mouth off but I'd never heard of CU4CU till now and it really got to me! This is no different than receiving a beautiful gift and then turning around and selling it!!!
Ok, enough of that, lol.
Thanks so much for all that you do for us! Go and get some much needed rest; we'll be here when you return!
(((hugs)))

I just discovered your blog and designs and I'm very impressed with your work. Thank you so much for sharing these items! I didn't see a store for you, so I sent a little donation your way. I wish it could be more, but I'm on a designing break until I finish my second degree. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean I'm on a scrapping break and my Paypal is depleted. LOL!!

Deb, your doodle animals are so darling. Thank you for sharing your talent yet again.

I see you haven't posted for a few days so I am praying that you have taken some time for yourself and getting some rest and relaxation.

As far as selling in a store, if you have never done that, you need to check with some that do or have in the past as there are deadlines to meet and pressures there, also.
Just telling you for your own information. Whatever you decide we will be there for you.

Thank you again for being so sweet and sharing so much.
Hugs!

I found your blog via Summertime Designs just yesterday. I have spent hours downloading your freebies. I want to thank you for sharing your talents. My internet is very slow otherwise I would send you a hundred thank yous for all the time and effort you put into your freebies. Already I have learned so much from reading your posts. (I use PSE 5.0 and I have been slowly teaching myself for over a year.) I think you are a remarkable person for all you do professionally and personally. I look forward to getting to know you better through your blog.
Thanks again, Amy
