What Little Boys are made of CU Doodles!!

I'm back from my fantastic vacation and have to go back to work tonight.  :-(  The week went so fast but we had such a great time in Florida!  And I really had a blast at the Digigathering!  Hummie did a fabulous job organizing the event and we all learned so much and are all talking about going back again next year!  I made lots of new friends, everyone was so sweet and really enthused about scrapping!  I saw some fabulous layouts that really inspired me to get back to scrapping my pictures!  Thanks so much to everyone for making the event so much fun!  You can see all our pictures on the blog HERE.

I sat down and played a little this evening in Illustrator with my Wacom tablet and made a few doodles that would work with the little boy layouts.  Tonights freebie is a set of animal doodles.  I would like to do a set for little girls too but what are little girls made of?  Sugar and spice?  Not exactly doodle material!  If you all can think of some things that I can attempt to draw for little girls I welcome any suggestions!

CU Orchids from Florida's Busch Gardens Tampa!

If you follow me on Twitter at all you know that we went to Busch Gardens yesterday and had a great time riding all the rides with no lines at all! There was an "incident" at lunch when a seagull attacked me as I was walking outside with my lunch and a tray full of Diet Pepsi's. Needless to say, the bird got away with the bread from my sandwich and I ended up with 3 spilled Diet Pepsi's. I was not happy! They were very nice about it at the snack shop though and gave me another sandwich and more drinks. Now you know why they say "DON'T FEED THE BIRDS!"

I photographed lots of lovely flowers yeterday and had some time to extract them last night and today before we headed out to the beach. Today's set are 5 gorgeous orchids in png form (drop shadows for preview purposes only) and hopefully tomorrow I will have some different flowers (including some roses) to post. Then Friday I am on my way to St. Louis for the Digigathering! I can't wait! I am pretty concerned though about how the rest of the family is going to get home. Our van is in the shop down here at Bradenton because the transmission is MESSED UP. I am so disgusted, we have had this van about a month and it starts giving us problems. Luckily it is still of course under warranty so we won't have to pay to have it fixed but I doubt it will be fixed by Saturday. I am flying to St. Louis then taking Amtrak home on Sunday evening. If worse comes to worse, DH and the kids can bring his parents' Cadillac home and they can drive the van home after it is fixed but that is a long drive in a car with no dvd players or satellite TV!

CU Paper and Fastener .csh shapes and pngs

I am posting again from sunny Florida!! Tonight's post will be brief because I am not too far out of bed tonight! I made these shapes recently to preview my paper styles and decided to give them away along with some fastener shapes that I created a while back too. There are some staples and different clips you can use on the paper shapes. I'm using my MIL's computer and it seems a bit sluggish tonight and I also cannot use my Live Writer program to post this so who knows what the preview will look like!

CU Flowers from Florida!

Today was a beautiful day in Florida!  We spent most of the day at the pool where it was too chilly for me and the older two kids to swim but the little girl spent 5 hours in the pool by herself.  We all got plenty of sun even though it was pretty cloudy.  I did manage to take some pictures of flowers here at the park and extract them.  Now as long as the wireless internet here cooperates I will upload them and get them posted for you to download!  We are here in Lake Placid for another day and tomorrow night are headed to Bradenton to visit DH's parents and going to Bush Gardens on Tuesday!

CU Envelopes and Notebook

Well we didn't end up leaving for Florida this afternoon because DD had a test on Friday that she can't take early so we are leaving after first hour tomorrow and DH says we are driving straight through.  UGH.  So since we were mostly packed and ready, I had time to make a couple of envelopes and a notebook using my styles from yesterday.  There are no .psd files because they made the .zip over 100mb!  The templates for the envelopes include the front and back of each envelope and one .png for the notebook.  I hope you can find them useful!

CU PAPER STYLES AND IMAGE TILES

I know I have been absent for the past several days.  It has been NUTS around here with a million things to do before we leave for Florida Friday.  I originally wanted to complete a set of shapes and give them away with the paper styles but I only have a few done so far so that will give me something to do on the long ride to Florida.  You can see from the preview that I have a few custom shapes done but I am also going to do some fasteners, etc. too so I will work on them and hopefully get them posted this weekend sometime!  Today's freebie is a set of 10 paper styles.  If you remember I did offer a paper pattern set way back in the early days that is still available HERE but is only useful in PS/PSE.  Today's set includes the seamless tiles so you can use them in your program too.

CU Doodle Bracket Shapes

I'm under the gun to get this posted again tonight because I have to be dressed and in roll call in 30 minutes!  LOL.. I hope that everyone who downloaded yesterday's freebie without the .csh came back this morning and downloaded the updated file if you needed the .csh.  I am so sorry again for doing that!  Tonight's freebie does have the .csh in it I promise!  There are some doodle bracket shapes and some plain outlined brackets for you do play with yourself and create your own doodle brackets!  The .csh has both left and right brackets of each but the .pngs have only one to save space and you can just flip it over to make the other bracket!  Enjoy!

CU Paisley Dingbat Font

Tonight we are in St.Louis for Arch Madness!  The Redbirds won and have to play Creighton tomorrow.  It will be a tough one for sure.  On the long car ride I made a dingbat font of my paisley shapes that I used for the recent brushes and overlays.  There are 26 paisleys in this font set, A-Z capital letters.  Load the font and make sure you have your caps lock on, then decide which ones you would like to use for your designs.  I did have a question on how to load yesterday's font set.  I don't know what the path is for Mac, but in Windows you copy the font to C:Windows, Font folder.  Google it and you will find more detailed instructions on how to install a font.  What I like to do though so that I don't have a bunch of fonts to slow down my programs is install the font temporarily.  I use Amp Font Viewer to manage my fonts.  It is free and works like a charm to install the font while you are working in your program then as soon as you close your program, the font is uninstalled automatically.  Anyway, I'm beat so I am going to sign off for the night and head to bed.  Hopefully this set will be better received than the messy paint font.  I don't know if people just thought it was an alpha or just didn't like the looks of it but there were only a couple hundred downloads.  Of course you can go to Dafont any number of places for THOUSANDS of free fonts so maybe I should stick with other things and forget the fonts.  We'll see.  Ohhh and there is a really cool thing you can do in Photoshop to convert your type to a shape layer.  Click on the layer containing the type (do not rasterize it) and then go to Layer - Type - Convert to Shape.  Viola - you have a paisley shape that is much easier to work with than type I think.  This works in PS only, sorry PSE users!

My First Font! Messy Paintstrokes CU Font

Yay me! I played around with Illustrator and Scanahand today and came up with a font set that I call Messy Paintstrokes. It is far from perfect but it was really much easier than one might think. I also found a great online site called YourFonts that looks like it is based on the same idea as Scanahand and is FREE. You can upload a template of your handwriting and the software creates a font of your handwriting. I haven't tried it so I don't know how well it works but if any of you have tried it I would love to hear what you think of it! Please note, this is a font, not an alpha, and you install it to use in your word processing, photo editing, software. We are off to St. Louis tomorrow for the MVC Basketball Tournament but I'll have the laptop for the long 3 hour ride down so maybe I will come up with something else to post this weekend. We will be pretty busy so keep your fingers crossed!

CU Paisley Overlays

Wow, you all were crazy for the paisleys!  I am so happy they were so "loved" and that so many grabbed the brush set.  I had a question from Shani who uses PSP 8 and 9 and said she could not get the pngs or abr to work in her program.  I don't know anything about PSP so I have no clue how to make a brush in PSP but she said she could not get it to work, even after resizing the pings smaller.  Can any of my PSP users help us out here?  If you know a trick or have any suggestions, just comment here on this post and I will email Shani if we can figure it out!  I was busy with sick kids yesterday and had little time to do much but I did manage to squeeze in some laptop time and made three CU paisley overlays from the brushes and shapes that I made.  They are all .pngs on transparent backgrounds;  I just put them on a white background for preview purposes.

CU Chicks Layered Template Set

Well we had an eventful weekend around here!  Yesterday we went to pick up our new van - love it!  It has two built-in dvd players so two movies can be watched at the same time on different screens!  And it came with a subscription to Sirius TV which has Cartoon Network, Disney, and Nickelodeon to keep the little one busy.  We decided today that we would travel to Quincy to see DH's grandparents in the nursing home as his grandfather is not doing well.  So we load up the van for the 2 1/2 hour trip and as we back out of the garage.... crunch!  UGH!  The garage door did not go up all the way for some reason and we could not see that from inside the van.  So the van we had less than 24 hours is broke... the plastic piece that holds the rear break light busted almost clear off.  So DH took that busted piece off as it would just rattle all the way to Quincy and called our insurance agent (my brother in-law) who thought it was rather funny.  Oh well, it's only money right?  LOL.  Anyway, I took the laptop with me on the long drive and came up with some chick templates for your Easter layouts and kits.  And if that isn't enough, you can go back and download the chick I offered a long time ago HERE
